January 21, 2025 (SEATTLE) – Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation, the trusted name in roofing and home services throughout the Pacific Northwest spent 2024 giving back to the community through an expanded scope of charitable giving to reflect the company’s growing commitment in supporting the local community and enhancing the lives of those in need.

In 2024, Guardian Roofing’s HALO Project celebrated six years of giving back to the community by honoring military family and Lakewood residents Steven Sorensen and his wife Penney, during Guardian’s signature annual community initiative that provides free roof repairs or replacements to deserving individuals and families in need. Through nominations and community support, the program helps ensure safe and secure homes while giving back to those who have faced significant challenges.

2024 Halo Project Mr Sorenson

In April, The powerhouse women of Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation partnered with the Seattle Chapter of National Women in Roofing and Rebuilding Together South Sound for the SHE BUILD  project, installing a brand-new roof for a woman in need. Guardian CEO Lori Swanson emphasized the collaboration’s mission to provide safe and healthy homes while showcasing the strength of women working together. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation utilized the Platinum Gives Back program to secure donated shingle products, completing the project with a full roof system upgrade.

In addition to the HALO project and SHE BUILD, Guardian will continue to support the community through the following organizations:

  • North Seattle Little League, a community-based youth baseball and softball organization dedicated to fostering skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship among players of all levels. Serving families in North Seattle, it provides a fun and supportive environment for children to learn and grow through America’s favorite pastime.
  • Paint the Barn Pink in Seattle, a local breast cancer awareness campaign aimed at supporting patients, promoting early detection, and funding research. With community-driven events and striking pink displays, the initiative unites Seattle residents in the fight against breast cancer while fostering hope and solidarity.
  • Seattle’s Dog PAK Giveaway, a community-driven initiative focused on supporting dog owners and their furry friends through free resources and gear. By distributing items like leashes, toys, and pet essentials, the program strengthens the bond between pet owners and their dogs while promoting responsible pet care in Seattle.
  • The Tacoma Athletic Commission’s Tribute to Champions, an annual event celebrating the achievements of local athletes, coaches, and contributors to sports in the Tacoma-Pierce County area. This event highlights excellence in sportsmanship and community impact, honoring individuals who inspire through their dedication and success.
  • The Roofing Contractors Association of Washington’s Toys for Tots Drive, an annual effort to collect and distribute toys to children in need during the holiday season. By partnering with the Marine Corps Reserve, the association fosters community spirit and brings joy to families across Washington state.
  • National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and advancing women in the roofing industry through education, networking, and mentorship. By fostering a supportive community, NWIR works to elevate women’s roles and contributions within the traditionally male-dominated field of roofing.

September 8, 2023 (SEATTLE)  Auburn-based and family-owned Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation had a milestone roof installation celebrating 5 years of giving back to the community through the Guardian HALO Project, which helps provide a family in need with a new roof or roof repair. The recipient of the much-deserved and needed new roof is Tacoma resident Karen Corrigan.

In July, Ms. Corrigan, who has worked for Goodwill Industries for almost 25 years. received a new roof and additional repairs as part of the fifth annual award through this by-nomination contest held annually by Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation. She was nominated by Rebuilding Together South Sound, which was instrumental in the inception of the Guardian HALO program five years ago.

Since 2018, Guardian’s internally led team has annually participated in the company-driven, community-serving program. “Individually and collectively, we look forward to this time that we can best give back to our community in a way that is unique to our company and culture. With the HALO project, we offer the gift and a major roof repair or replacement to one local homeowner, who has been nominated by other members of the community. Then we gather for the installation that we hope can help improve the lives of those in our community, like Ms. Corrigan, with the peace of mind that a new roof gives,” says Lori Swanson, owner of Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation.

In addition to the new roof and repairs for Ms. Corrigan, in honor of the five year anniversary of the HALO Project, Guardian has committed to the support of five additional charities including:

“The HALO project process is a reminder that we are all part of a gracious community where people truly come first,” says Luke De Monnin, HALO Project Manager for Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation. “The long-term impact and security of the structural health of a new roof for Ms. Corrigan, along with all our customers, is at the forefront of any project we work on. This one just holds a bit more of a special place knowing that we can continue to make a positive impact in our PNW community where we hope to continue and grow this program for many years.”

The Meaning Of Halo

“We believe it is important to understand the basis of this project to understand how deep its reach is,” says Swanson. “Simply put, the ‘H’ stands for helping, this can include helping the community and families, or simply enriching others’ lives. ‘A’ stands for achieving a purpose and successfully filling a need. ‘L’ stands for lasting, not only a company that lasts but fostering lasting relationships as well. Finally, ‘O’ stands for overcome meaning completing people’s needs that resulted from outlying obstacles.”

February 14, 2023 (SEATTLE)- Embedded deep in the organizational fabric of Auburn-based, family-owned Guardian Roofing and Gutters is their commitment to community and social responsibility. The crown jewel of their efforts was fully realized in 2018 with the inception of the Guardian Halo Project, an annual by-nomination contest to help provide a deserving local family with a new roof or roof repair. The company has just announced that nominations are open for the 2023 Guardian Halo Project.

“We are firm believers that to whom much is given, much should be expected. Guardian Roofing & Gutters has been given so much in the form of our team, clients, and supportive community, that it is our honor and privilege to use the unique nature of our business to provide a gift that could be otherwise financially unwieldy to a local family….the gift of a new roof system,” says Lori Swanson, owner of Guardian Roofing and Gutters. “A new roof system could cost a homeowner anywhere from $16,000 to $80,000 depending on scale and materials used. In addition to the improved quality of life, the impact and value a new roof provides over time can be multiples of the initial investment,” she continues.

Every year, Guardian’s internally-led team embarks on the Halo Project where one local homeowner who is in dire condition is gifted with a major roof repair or replacement. The local community is encouraged to nominate themselves or someone in need on the Guardian website to receive this life- changing prize.

For the past four years and four rounds of the Guardian Halo Project, the team at Guardian Roofing & Gutters has awarded four new roofs to local families.

“Every year the Halo Project allows everyone on our team to connect with the community in a deeper and more personal way than anything else we do. From start to finish, from selecting the homeowner to completing the project, the passion put forth has proven year after year that it is more than just providing a free roof for a family in need, it’s the start of a lasting, close relationship with that family, the community involved, and everyone at Guardian. It is a major highlight of our year, and we are thrilled to continue it in 2023,” says Luke De Monnin, HALO Project Manager for Guardian Roofing and Gutters.

Guardian Roofing & Gutters’ Halo Project Roof Giveaway Enters Its Fourth Year! https://www.guardianroofing.com/2022/03/guardian-roofing-gutters-halo-project-roof-giveaway-enters-its-fourth-year/ Mon, 21 Mar 2022 14:00:55 +0000 https://www.guardianhome.com/?p=16026 About The Guardian Halo Project

Guardian Roofing & Gutters believes it’s incredibly important to give back and take care of our community. After all, to whom much is given, much should be expected, and Guardian Roofing & Gutters has been given so much in the form of their team and their clients. That is why every year since their inception, the Guardian Roofing & Gutters Family takes time to determine how they can best give back to their community in a way that is unique to them. Thus, the Guardian Halo Project was born.

Since 2019, Guardian Roofing & Gutters has hosted the annual Guardian Halo Project, an internal team lead project where one local homeowner in dire conditions would be gifted with a major roof repair or replacement. The local community is encouraged to nominate themselves or someone in need on the Guardian website to receive this life-changing prize.

3 Years of Giving Back

Over the course of three years and three rounds of the Guardian Halo Project, the team at Guardian Roofing & Gutters has awarded four new roofs to local families. In 2020, two recipients were awarded as both family’s stories were so unique and the need for support was so high. The most recent Guardian Halo Project was awarded to the Lenihan Family and installed October 2021 after COVID-19 delayed the install several months.

“One day my wife got a call from Lori, the Owner at Guardian Roofing & Gutters, sharing with us that we were chosen to receive the free roof and remodel. They have just been amazing every step of the way.” – Luke Lenihan

2021 Halo Project: The Story of Luke and Sarah (An Update) https://www.guardianroofing.com/2021/10/the-story-of-luke-and-sarah-our-current-winners-2/ Tue, 19 Oct 2021 00:10:22 +0000 https://www.guardianhome.com/?p=12968 Each year, Guardian Roofing hosts the Halo Project, a by-nomination contest to help provide a local family with a new roof! This year’s winners were Luke and Sarah Lenihan. Luke and Sarah Lenihan were just like any other first-time homebuyer, excited to start a new chapter in their life while also being anxious for the newness that it entails. What they did not expect was to be in the situation they are currently in.

The couple set out to find the starter home that’s just right for them and their three children: their daughter Remi (age 6), their son Ryker (age 4), and their newborn son Reuben. When they saw the seemingly cozy, white house that they soon would call home, in May of 2020, they were sure that they found the right match. They made certain to go through all the right steps in the home buying process and were looking forward to to re-purposing the little room up in the attic to be their children’s play area. Once they closed on their home and received the keys, their excitement turned into despair as things quickly turned downhill.

On merely day two of owning the house, they found out the inspection was done poorly when Luke went up to the attic to start on the playroom project. He made the discovery that the insulation in the attic was molded and rotted out, the attic floorboards and framing wood were rotten, there was no roof ventilation, the windows would not seal, and so forth. One issue just led to another. To make matters worse, the inspection company denied any responsibility or assistance, and an attempt to jump through various legal hoops eventually lead to nothing. The Lenihan family kept trying to find a solution to their continuously-growing problem to no avail as seven contractors came out to look at their home and denied doing any work due to the difficulty and liability the job required.

This is when Sarah’s mother posted on Facebook about Guardian Home Halo Project. From there it spiraled to receiving 105 nominations for the Halo Project from the Enumclaw community, family, and friends. The project wrapped up Monday, October 18 including a new roof and ventilation/insulation work plus a safe, functional play space for the kids. Over 22 total volunteers were involved to make this dream a reality.

THE MEANING OF HALO

It is important to understand the basis of this project before understanding how deep its reach is. Simply put, the “H” stands for helping, this can include helping the community, families, or simply enriching others’ lives. “A” stands for achieving a purpose and successfully filling a need. “L” stands for lasting, not only a company that lasts but fostering lasting relationships as well. Finally, “O” stands for overcome meaning completing people’s needs that resulted from outlying obstacles.
